Whats New? 9/29

Hey All, everyone wants to know whats new!  Well, we're moved in, and continuing to work on the mansion.  Found an original postcard from cardcow.com and purchased that.  This is a great pic of the mansion from 1909, you can just see the roller coaster in the background to the right of the house.  Once the trees and weeds die we'll see if we can find any remnants over in the woods.

Jim has been working on the property, clearing things out and getting it cleaned up.  We brought plants over from the old house and put them in the beds getting ready for the fall.

I spent the weekend putting the new floor down in the breakfast room and wow what a difference

Dining room set FINALLY looks right!

We keep uncovering more surprises, it looks like there's a walkway and flowerbeds around the fountain.  pretty cool!

 Curtains going up!

All the boys settling in, Turner, Zack and Reggie

  1. I have been down by the Grand Staircase in the past & have always wondered what the house connected to it looked like! It has been so much fun seeing the restoration of this beautiful house. It would really be cool if you could give an update since September of what you have done & I am sure with the holidays your house must be decorated beautifully. Thank you for sharing all of your hard work & bringing a piece of history alive again!

  2. Not really a hard work renovation was spent in your house but the output itself is fascinating

  3. You have a real gem! Love your site - just discovered it today. I knew 2 of the Speciale girls that grew up in the house and went to Hamilton High - Rosemary and Camille. This house was also included on the Hamilton Twsp. tour by third grades in the public schools as the entrance to White City Park. I too have the old postcard that you noted, and in the upper right hand corner it says "The Casino, White City, Trenton, N.J." A terrific job! Maybe its possible to contact someone in the Speciale family and they would give you more information on the house. Lakeside Girl

  4. Hi Suzy and Turner!

Joe D'Aquila here from The Trentonian.

I didn't see any other way to contact you so I thought I'd try it here.

I Stumbled upon your blog and was wondering if you'd be interested in linking up with us on our Web site.

We have a fairly new section on the site called our blog center, where we link to blogs about or by people from the Trenton area.

All it entails really is we link to you and list you in our blog center and you in turn host our widget somewhere on your site which links back to us.

If you want to check it out go here:

    www.trentonian.com/blogs

Then click on any of the blogs included there to see how the widget works.

Once you're linked up to us, whenever you have a new post, we can write a little blurb on our home page providing links to your new post as a way to promote your blog. It could also lead to us doing more stories about you, your blog and anything you've got going on.

It looks like you haven't posted much in a while, but if you start up again and would like to hook up with us, let us know. It's a very cool project and a great blog!

Let me know if you'd be interested. We're really trying to grow this section and promote it more.

Get back to me at jdaquila@trentonian.com or give me a call at 609 989 7800 ext. 297.
